Famous Last Words: Week 1

The course of the last 48 hours or so has been hectic. From trying to get ahead in class, to driving from Colorado Springs to Texas, and starting to pack up my life for the next six months, I haven't caught a break! But, alas, it has been a good ride. I am looking forward to what my life holds in South Asia in a little over 48 hours from now, and am as prepared as I think I could be for a number of different possibilities.

My best writing this week: I really enjoyed the introduction phase of the blog, where I got to design it and introduce myself to my peers. I always find it fun to write these types of posts as I go along, because my interests and hobbies change so much. However, I really enjoyed coming up with my own story from a nursery rhyme as well. I think this will help to develop a more creative side in me that my International Studies degree does not allow for in many technical and research papers.

My other classes: Thankfully, my other classes have not started yet! I am enrolled in a history of science class, as well as an class for internship credit. So I am not anticipating too much work to start off with, but hopefully I can say that around the time that finals rear their heads once again.

Outside of school: Other than working on this class, I have been packing up a good portion of the things I own to move to South Asia! I am excited for the opportunity, but nervous about the change that it brings and how much I will miss my core friends and family back in the United States. I also saw in the news a few different terror attacks that happened this week. It saddens me that these types of attacks continue to grow in number.

Here's to hoping for continual motivation for class, and peaceful protest in the future.

  1. I wish you WONDERFUL TRAVELS, Dakota: safe, and full of great discoveries. I look forward to seeing where you will be writing your next post for this class... and congratulations on having finished up the first week like this before your departure. I am wishing you both peace and tranquility, plus lots of curiosity and excitement too! :-)
