Week 2 Reading Diary A: The Story of the Wedding

Narayan's Ramayana
Pages 31-79
Notes and thoughts:

This book has been much different than I expected! I feel like the writing is rather eclectic at times, and bounces from story to story quickly, but it has proven to be interesting.

One story that I found quite interesting was the story of the wedding.
-First off, I find it intriguing that the gods do not know they are gods when in human form. That is so confusing, though. Then they could have tons of alter-egos and not know about it. Blessing and a curse I suppose!
-Secondly, love at first sight even existed in ancient India. I don't necessarily agree with it, but of course he ends up getting the girl.
-This all seemed to happen without much build up or emotion. One day, Rama is in his palace, the next he's traipsing through the desert, and then BAM, HE'S MARRIED.

Another note: Kaikeyi is fierce. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and never have I seen it more clearly than in her demands.
