Famous Last Words Week 4: Open Hearts and Open Minds.

Namaste!

This week has been a busy one! I have been to many new places in the city, endured construction on my building, and came across my first bout of sickness. Yay! I am fighting through a few different frustrations when it comes to the culture and how women are treated, but other than that, things are going swell over here in Asia. I got to experience my first medical camp this week. It was fun to teach the children different things, such as how to wash their hands, and brush their teeth. They even got to see a physician! All of the kids turned out to be okay, except for one little boy. Unfortunately, we found out he has a heart murmur. Luckily, though, the organization I am working with has a little money to take him to the doctor and search for solutions.
I have been to a few different slums now, and the things I have seen are astounding. It makes me really think about the abundance of things we have in the United States, and how much we waste. It's unfortunate that we take so much for granted. I know that my life will have to be much different upon my return. I can already feel the weight of reverse culture shock, and how hard that will be for me! I just want to stay forever!
As far as class goes, I am trying my best to keep up! I enjoy the reading and writing, just not the due dates! Luckily my day off is Monday, so I can get things done on that day. And I also have a 12 hour time cushion, since I am a little bit ahead of the States. I enjoyed my storytelling this week, and am looking forward to putting some work in on my project! I am also taking a Hindi class right now, and that's been kicking my tail! Hopefully that gets a little easier for me.

Phir milenge!
