Week 4 Reading Diary B: A Lot Of Extra Fluff

So, I really don't understand how both of these books that we have read even come from the same story at this point. They both highlight different things, tell different short stories, and even have different characters in them.

The story of Guha is one that I found really interesting. Why is kicking a statue of a god considered devotion? Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I find that rather impersonal, and have a hard time grasping why Guha was so devoted to a statue that could do nothing for him. To each his own, I suppose.

I am finding it harder to read this version of the book, mainly because I want to know which version is the true and correct telling of the story. I find myself picking apart the differences from the two books, rather than taking this book for what it is. I also find it interesting that many of the people I interact with on a daily basis are Hindu, but literally have never read this book.

One story that I would be interested to write would be the diary entry of Dasaratha and his wives after the birthing of his sons. I am going to brainstorm that and work on it tomorrow.
