For this reading I continued on in the Indian Fairy Tales unit in the Un-textbook. I found some of the stories quite interesting in this reading as well!
I think the most thought-provoking story was the one of the gold giving serpent. It made me think a lot about what I hold as dear in my life as well. Those of us who do ascribe to a certain set of beliefs can worship God, but still get sidetracked in the things that He offers us, rather than who He is. This is disturbing when you really get down to it. We don't want to be a people who give our hearts over to simple objects and desires. It made me reflect a lot about my own life and where I come up short as well. We can get so entangled in things that we even curse those closest to us when we are denied the pleasure of it. This reminded me a lot of what addiction to things looks like in some people. It's crazy how we can just give ourselves over to trivial things!
The other story that I liked was the story of the sun, wind, and moon. I always enjoy these types of stories, because I love reading from different perspectives about why things are the way they are. Everyone has a different story or reasoning, but this version of the characteristics of the wind, sun, and moon, made me laugh!
